We share in your sorrow at not seeing Roger in the flesh, but celebrate that he is experiencing the greatest gift of all in now being in the presence of his creator, Almighty God. We will hold the many memories that we have of our sons calling him "Daddy Roger" and Christy being our "other child" when they were playing at your and our homes as Cecil and he rode to work together. I will smile when I think of his "words of wisdom" when I talked to the two of you about issues that seemed large at that time, but, now as I have grown older and wiser, realize that they were very small... the key to all that is that he listened. The Taylor and Rogers families go a long way back in their friendship so it only seems fitting that many of them are walking the golden streets of Heaven together and reminiscing about their journey as in the old hymn lines refrain "my soul looks back and wonders how I got over". So now he is reunited with his father and mother and I am sure that my father probably smiled as he said to my mother, "Well, honey, there is Roger!".... so they are talking up a storm. Furthermore, we stand firm on Jesus's promise, who has told us that His father "has many mansions" and the Apostle Paul stated that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". So in gratification to our Heavenly Father, we thank Him for the life of Roger and his gift to us by allowing him to be a part of our life. We thank Him for freeing Roger from the pain and suffering that his frail body felt and now know without a doubt that all the "cares are past, [he] home at last, ever to rejoice" is the song that he and those who await us are singing. May you feel the presence of the Comforter in your trying time and be filled with the peace that surpasses all human understanding.
